In recent years, the Nigeria Football Federation has welcomed series of coaches both local and foreign Respectively.We can’t really say which of the two has done better.What we Nigerians will remember is that,our local coach won us our last African trophy,which is the African Nations Cup back in 2013 by the Late, Stephen Keshi.This moment of glory will never be forgotten by we Nigerians.

The 2013 came and gone.We witnessed successions of coaches been appointed such as Sunday Oliseh, Samson Siasia others.They were not up to the standards the Nigeria Football Federation were In search of.At that time Nigeria went for the world cup and rarely made an impact.NFF, Nigeria Football Federation took a bold step in appointing a German tactician in person of,Gernot Rohr.

After qualifying Nigeria for the world cup in Russia, Gernot Rohr was heaped with so much praise and as well respected.The 2018 Russia World Cup arrived, Nigeria were presented with an early exit from the tournament.Nigeria lost 2-1 to Argentina In Group D.After the exit, Gernot Rohr labelled the Nigeria team performance as a “big disappointment”. Following the world cup disappointment, Nigeria and Gernot Rohr had an impressive run in the AFCON 2019, where they made it to the semi final and knocked out by Algeria.The Super Eagles Of Nigeria, needed some respite, where they needed to play Tunisia in the Third Place Final, which they eventually won for the fans for there support throughout the tournament.Looking at Rohr performance we can’t really say he did well neither did he do bad,he has Just been average.

Having looked at Rohr performance,we can deduce that he almost brought hope for Nigerians.Before Gernot Rohr appointment,the coaches that came before him did not perform to this level.Despite Rohr average performance he was sacked the Nigeria Football Federation.The 2021 AFCON came, and Nigeria had a poor performance and was knocked out by Tunisia in the round of 16 after winning all three group stage matches stage Augustine Eguavoen was the coach at that time.The NFF didn’t take any drastic action due to his performance.I felt he was given a second chance.The second chance was him qualifying the Super Eagles for the Qatar World Cup, which he failed woefully despite the quality, young and vibrant squad the Super Eagles possess.The Super Eagles were unable to qualify for the Qatar World Cup.Augustine Eguavoen was sacked immediately after the world cup qualifiers

From this we can see the performance of the Local coaches to that of the foreign coach.The Late Stephen Keshi has been the best local in the last decade for Nigeria, whilst Gernot Rohr had his own part to play, where he performed averagely and Nigerians never appreciated him.Even till now it is been said that NFF still owe Gernot Rohr part of his salary.

After witnessing all these ups and downs of Nigeria Football, NFF appointed a new coach in person of Jose Peseiro.It has not been a good start for the new coach, having lost two matches already.You been a new coach in another country is a good thing but at the same time it is very bad and not encouraging losing your first two matches as the coach of the Super Eagles Of Nigeria..At The moment there is no world cup for Nigeria.So it is a must NFF and the Super Eagles get things right.This team is blessed with so much qualities, And prospect and young spirit.It is advisable that Jose Peseiro needs to Start getting things right.The Super Eagles Of Nigeria have a Long summer ahead preparing for the AFCON qualifiers 2023.I do believe this crop of Young talent and experience has the potential to Mount a serious AFCON challenge and also make it to the next world cup as long as there is a capable coach.We Nigerians await to see if Jose Peseiro is capable to lead the Super Eagles Of Nigeria to the glory day’s.
